Traditional Chinese Injury Rehabilitation Therapy

Traditional Chinese Injury Rehabilitation Therapy can help you recover from pain and discomfort due to chronic injury, and can restore range of movement to areas that feel restricted. It combines massage with targeted use of acupressure, cupping and moxa, to relieve pain, clear inflammation and stagnation, and stimulate qi and blood flow to an injured or tense area, encouraging your body’s natural self-healing ability.

Whether you have a sport related injury, repetitive strain, a trauma injury, or tension from work and life, I aim to support your return to health and balance.

I include Qigong (“chee gong”) exercises as rehabilitation. They help maintain healthy joints, circulation and postural muscle tone, as well as calming the mind and the entire nervous system.

What’s unique about this therapy is its integrated approach to healing in the body. Soft tissue release and joint mobilisation techniques from sports injury and remedial massage help to access deep-lying tension. Acupressure stimulates points that act as gateways linking deeper areas within the body, activating the flow of blood and qi to release energy blocks. Moxa is a heat therapy which allows warmth to penetrate joints, muscles and acupoints, to increase blood circulation and disperse accumulations of stagnant blood and fluids. Cupping supports deep tissue relaxation as its action works up to four inches deep into the body, activating the lymphatic system and blood circulation and helping to clear stagnancy.

Qigong gently stretches and works both the inner organs of the body and all its meridians, muscles, tendons and other connective tissue. I prescribe movements that are safe to practice and support your body to heal and rebalance.

This form of therapy enables me as a practitioner to support your healing with a range of tools appropriate to your needs.

Whole-body Balancing Acupressure Massage

This is a deeply restorative, holistic treatment designed to create the optimum conditions for your body to rebalance itself. It can help with tension, aches and pains, stress, emotional upheaval, insomnia or anxiety. The massage uses a range of points indicated for their action of opening and freeing the flow of blood and energy (qi) through specific meridians in the body. This helps to replenish the body’s reserves of energy as well as relaxing the nervous system. The treatment is soothing and includes work on head, hands and feet.
