Rest and Renew
A session of Winter Qigong
Sunday 21st January 2024, 3-5.30pm at Barracks Lane Community Garden, max 10 participants,
includes 15min tea break
‘Rest and Renew’ offers a space to feel more deeply the core of your energy, to take stock of what’s moving in your body and being, and learn some short sequences of movement and meditation for replenishing your energy reserves.
As the energy of nature goes inwards and downwards towards the roots, conserving itself, winter Qigong helps us do the same. Winter is associated with the Water element in traditional Chinese medicine, and with the Kidneys and Bladder network. The Kidneys are the area where ‘the spark of life’ is seen to reside in the human body.
The ‘Rest & Renew’ session will include:
- Self-massage to support the Kidney network.
- A short flow of movement from Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi
- The Eight Brocades for health – an adaptable series that can help with sleep and grounding.
- Winter-specific qigong for restoring energy;
- Deeply relaxing breath meditation.
‘Rest and Renew’ is suitable for beginners and those with some experience of Tai Chi, Qigong, or other forms of embodied movement.
